‘When my home shook…’-Jemma Rose, 5, Halswell School

I was eating lunch at my desk and I thought the earthquake was a giant!  And I got under my desk and I was scared and I was crying.  I did not like the shaking.  My teacher, Ms Moran, was at home sick that day and I just got off my chair when the earthquake happened.  Mrs Gatehouse gave me a hug and I hated the earthquake so much.    Tonight I am going to sleep in my own bed.

    Hello Jemma Rose

Wow… that was some giant wasn’t it? I am not surprised you were frightened, lots of people were that day.

Well done for getting under your desk and staying safe.

It was very nice of Mrs Gatehouse to hug you to make you feel better.

I am sure your own bed feels very nice indeed.

Please take care of yourself, I am thinking of you lots and hope all gets better soon.
