‘My Story’- Jessica, 7, Halswell School

When the earthquake shook, I was at the Christchurch Hospital in room number 7.  I was with my Mum and my brother. We huddled together in the corner of the room and then we had to evacuate the hospital and sit in Hagley Park.  After a while we got in the car and went home. It took a long time because there was a lot of traffic. Everyone in my family was safe.

    Dear Jessica

I am so happy you are safe after your long and difficult day.

What an awful time you had being in the hospital then having to go to Hagley Park.

I expect the hospital people looked after you very well before you could get home.

There were pictures on T.V of people in their cars trying to get home and the roads looked pretty packed.

Take care Jessica, I am thinking of you loads!

Jessica, I was very worried about you being in town and was so glad to hear you were safe. Thank you for sharing your story – you had a different experience to us and I’m sure being a few stories up at the hospital was very scary. You, your brother and your mum were all very brave (and very patient waiting to get home).
