‘My story’-Micah, 7, Elm Wood School

When the quake struck I was in the blue tunnel… it fell down with me in it. My brother went to the art centre then back to school. The earthquake struck and the Art Centre fell down. My house is a mess. At my school the War Memorial fell into the pool, it cut some power lines and it got electrocuted. My friend’s house fell down. I said “I wonder what point it was?” It was 6.1 and only 5km down.

    Hello Micah

Oh dear, to be in the blue tunnel when the earthquake came would have been a shock. I hope you are Ok now.

It was a pretty difficult day for a lot of people and it was useful to find out what point it was, a 6.1 doesn’t sound a lot until you realise how shallow it was.

No doubt you are very busy clearing up now along with all your family and mates.

Lots of people are thinking of you and trying to help even from overseas, collecting money and goods and trying to get them to everyone there.

We are also thinking of how you must be feeling and we are so pround of your incredible strength and how people are joining together.

Take care Micah. From Ella in Auckland.

I have just read your story. Thankyou Micah,

We are all hoping everyone in Christchurch is like a big family, helping each other a little bit at a time. I hope you have a place to sleep and be warm, and have fresh water to drink, and lots of hugs each day. Do you like to draw?
