‘My story’-Patrick, 8, Fendalton school

When the earthquake happened I was waiting outside the school library at lunchtime and I ran out from under the school library verandah. Then I saw everyone coming down to the tennis courts so I just sat down with everyone from my class. Most children were crying. Some of my friends said that their mums or brothers were scared of the earthquakes so they would be crying.

Then Mr Holland said his coffee was in the classroom, so he went to get it and he came out with a full cup of coffee. He was very pleased and everyone was cheering.

Then mum came to pick me up and then I had to stay at my Auntys and then I went to Australia. We are coming back to get some stuff and then going back to Australia.

Keep safe everyone

Patrick
