‘My story’-Cherie, 8, Hornby Primary School

Hi my name is Cherie and I go to Hornby Primary School. I am a student in Room 3 with Mr Scott. Mr Scott is a nice teacher, and his wife had a baby just after the earthquake.  I was at school when it happened. We were playing outside, and were just about to go into our classroom.  Some of my friends were crying, but our teachers took good care of us. I like the fact that all my school friends are safe.

    Hi Cherie

I love your name, isn’t it pretty!

You are very fortunate to have a lovely teacher Mr Scott who looked after you whilst the earthquake was going on. Have you seen the new baby yet? What an incredible time to be born.

I like the fact too that you are all safe there and although it was a terrible time I am hoping that it is settled now so that Canterbury can be rebuilt and healed.

We are thinking of you loads and I would like you to remember that. Take care Cherie and all the best to you and your family and friends.

    From Ella in Auckland.
