“Duck, duck, duck!”-Rosie, 5, Wairakei School

I was at Wairakei School and I was eating lunch. When the earthquake happened I was still sitting down, and the Duty Teachers all said “Duck, duck, duck!”  One of my mates was at the toilet when the earthquake happened. I said “Imagine if someone was on the monkey bars when it happened!” We met each other on the field and the teachers said find some of your friends. When mum came it was great. Then I went home. The End.

    Dear Rosie

What a terrible surprise for you in the middle of your lunch.

Your teachers called out the right thing didn’t they? And what did your mate in the toilet do?

I am glad there was nobody on the monkey bars though.

I am pleased Mum was able to come and pick you up, I am sure she would have been so happy to see you too.

I am thinking of you Rosie and your family all the time.

Best wishes from Ella in Auckland.
