The Very Scary Earthquake- Abbie, 7, Weedons School

When the earthquake started, it was very scary. Dad got Charli and Mum got me. Charli was holding on to the covers, so Dad was trying to pull the bunk bed, the mattress and Charli. Mum woke me up and we stood under the doorway for ages and ages. Then Dad needed to go to the toilet. On his way he got the headlamp then Isabella came round. Isabella brought blankets and a cover over. Finally it was morning. All the olive oil and cocoa were mixed together. (oh yuk) Unfortunately Dads grandads trophy broke. Once at last we could go out to look at the mess the annoying earthquake made. It was our Open Home Day on Sunday and we hadn’t tidied up everything. (Oh no!!!) During every aftershock I kept yelling out, “Mum!” because I was scared. I felt scared because I have never had an earthquake before.

    Hello Abbie

Have just read your story. yes it was an awful time wasnt it. Grandad and I went into the kitchen and everything was all broken and on the floor. Oh what a mess. Never mind. We cleaned it all up and now hope there will be no more shakes. We are lucky to have had some nice fine weather so all the poor people who have their houses damaged and can’t live in them can start to clean up. Lets look forward to the holidays and we can have some fun together. Love you lots. Nanma.
