“Chester came running under the blanket, I felt happy”- Will, 8, Lyttelton Main School
On Saturday there was an earthquake. I was snoring away and there was a big noise like this: boom! Bam! Crash! Crack! Bang! Our dog, Chester, was howling. My mum had to drag me out of bed, it was very frightening.
We went in the doorway, and then we went in our mum and dad’s bed.
I said “Will there be another one?” Our mum said “Maybe”. I felt terrified but snugly. Chester came running under the blanket, I felt happy.
Hello. I read your story. I felt shocked by your description of the earthquake. I liked the way you described it, and how you felt when it happened.
I hope that your home didn’t get damaged or destroyed. Are you back at school yet? My school, Pakaraka, has been following the news to learn more about earthquakes. We were very happy to know that no one was seriously hurt. We are very sad that many building got badly damaged in this disaster. We hope you stay strong and keep being positive. Arohanui.
