‘Earthquake’- Eve, 11, Weedons School

Amazing! A 7.1 earthquake hit Christchurch, freaky as it was, nobody was killed even though it was at 4.35am when everybody was fast asleep.

At the epicenter, Darfield brick houses were destroyed and not liveable. Near the town centre our famous brick buildings like old pubs and churches have been condemned and are unsafe.

There are people using shovels for all the silt, volcanoes popping up here and there but with all the help from university students and high school students it is getting cleaned up.

Primary schools have been closed for one whole week leaving some kids desperate to go back to school but can not because of structural damage.

The council are working their feet off with welfare centres.  People from civil defence are supplying water and power for those without water and power.

Surprisingly with aftershocks still going on people are freaking out. They are scared and hoping they will never have the experience ever again.  With people still holding on to hope, the people affected by the earthquake will recover.
