‘My story’-Jordy, 8, Waimairi School
In last Tuesdays earthquake I was just by the big fort on the senior playground. When it hit I just ran under the fort and grasped onto one of the poles. When it stopped I ran into my classroom and jumped under my desk. Two minutes later I got out from under my desk and went outside. Then I noticed that everybody was on the field so I found the people from my classroom and calmed everybody down. Soon my mum and dad came and me and Nicky left. Lucky that I live just round the corner! When I got home we all dived under the table and me and Nicky played on the PSP. I felt calm but it was scary when the strong earthquake hit..
Good story Jordy,
It will be good to see you back at school again and hear everyone else’s stories

Hi Jordy
Thankfully you were able to hang onto the poles under the fort. Well done to jump under the desk so quickly.
You sound as though you are very kind helping to calm people, that is quite a skill.
I am pleased you got home alright and that you and Nicky played on the PSP.
Please send my very best wishes to all your family and friends and of course lots to you too.
