‘My story’-Dylan, 12, Kaiapoi Borough School
Me and Jed were walking around and Jed said “Stop Dylan, feel this and the ground was shaking. Then we heard a bang like a shot gun and the whole ground was moving. The water in the swimming pool went crazy.
I knew it was another earthquake straight away and I went looking for my little brother. When I found him he was crying and he was glad to see me and then my Mum found us. I went to get my bag and my teacher took me to my Mum. Then another one hit and everyone was screaming and I was scared. My Mum took me home. I got really freaked out because my dog was lying on the ground and I didn’t know he had fainted.

Thank you for writing about your experience on here so that people like me can get to understand what it was like for you.
Good for you when you went looking for your little brother and for sure he would have been really relieved to see you.
Mum would have been so happy to see you as well after having been looked after safely by your teachers.
I hope your dog is better by now, it must have been awful for animals not knowing what was happening.
Stay strong Dylan, you are precious to this world and you will have a huge depth of knowledge to use in your future.
