” It felt really scary”-Imogen, 7, Waimairi Primary School
I was playing on the playground before the earthquake happened and then just before it, I decided I wanted to climb the rope climbing wall. When I was sitting on the first bit the earthquake happened. It felt really scary and the first thing I wanted to do was get away from the climbing walls and be with my class.
I ran towards where the people that were still eating their lunch inside were lining up. I then tried to find Mrs Smith (my teacher) which was pretty easy because she was on duty. Then we went over to the field.
It was really cold on the field because I was wearing a shortsleeve top, and so I had to pull my arms inside my t-shirt to keep warm until mum came and got me.
Hi Imogen
I am so pleased you are safe and well after your experience with the big earthquake.
It is not a surprise that you were a bit scared, I would have been as well and I am an adult!
Good thing you can run fast so that you could catch up with your friends and your teacher, Mrs Smith.
I am sorry you were cold but I bet when Mum came she hugged you and that made you a lot warmer. Mum would have been very happy to see you.
Take care of yourself, we are all thinking of you no matter where we are in the world.
