“I grabbed the bench and didn’t let go until it finished”-Jasmin, 7
I had just finished eating my lunch when the earthquake hit. I grabbed the bench and didn’t let go until it finished. I had to run over to the field. Once everyone was over there water started to pour out of the ground. My class had to move three times because the water was getting to close. I was scared in a way. I wondered were it hit the baddest, and how deep it was. When all of my family was together i asked my mum, she said it hit in lyttleton and that it was 5 meters dip. I am glad our house is still standing.
I am really glad your house is fine Jasmin. All of the water and sand has now gone from the field so you can play on it again.
See you soon

I am happy you are safe.
Well done for holding on so tight when the big earthquake struck, you must be very strong.
I can understand that you would be scared at the time, a lot of people were too, it is quite understandable.
What a relief your house is still standing, that’s a good start to the new Canterbury.
Please take care, I am thinking of you lots and hoping all will start getting better really soon.
From Ella in Auckland.
