“Mum! Mum!”- Rhian, 10, West Eyreton School
“Mum! Mum!” I shouted. I screamed as hard as I could until my mum came into my room. I burst into tears because it gave me a big shock. “Mum!” I screamed again. Mum came rushing in and asked if I was ok. Mum told me to go to Hannah, my sister’s room until I had calmed down. Mum checked if anything was damaged but it wasn’t so she told me to go back to sleep.
I woke up in the morning and it was still shocked. I turned on the TV to watch the news. I was glad that I was safe after seeing all of the houses being smashed down. It was my birthday party on the same day but I didn’t cancel that.
We were going to go to Dudley Pool but it was closed. We were going to go to the cinema but it was closed. We were going to go to Clip n Climb but it was closed so I had a sleepover. We felt some aftershocks over the night and it was scary.
The next day we went to Spencer Park and played mini gold and had ice cream.
Later on in the week I did a 3KM race and after I went to my friend’s house. When I got home I had burgers for tea.
I am now back at school on Monday and I am feeling a bit better now that the aftershocks have got smaller.
That was my story about the 7.1 earthquake.
Wow Rhian! You’ll certainly remember your 10th birthday which really did go with a bang!
…and where was Dad? snored through it all I guess.
